Entrepreneurship/Startup-Evening at Arkansas State University Qatar (A-State) with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s Digital Incubation Center (DIC)

On the 17th of September 2026 we welcomed our guests to our Entrepreneurship Evening, and kicked off our 2026/2027 speakers series with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s Digital Incubation Center Team. Roughly 100 guests, and a diverse audience  (students, alumni, faculty, and special guests from e.g. partner schools and corporates), joined our Ecosystem event.

A-State’s focus is on providing domain knowledge and getting a solid education for our students, and not just a degree. This, in the future, will also open up many lifelong learning opportunities for our alumni and other stakeholders. A-State has e.g. become a Cisco Networking Academy to allow our students, alumni, staff as well as partners to carry out Cisco courses for free and get industry certification co-branded with us.

We also want our students to look into Entrepreneurship and consider setting up their own companies. Startups add a lot of value to our societies, and if managed well they become the next generation of medium to large sized organizations. The skills students learn, running their own business, are invaluable for any business or organization that they will join later. Entrepreneurship is also a strategic direction for Qatar and reflects our goal to assist this beautiful country in its goals.

During our mutual Speaker Series DIC provided insights into setting up an organization from idea to establishment, and also the Ecosystem assistance they offer from incubator services, coaching, co-working spaces and even funding. After the DIC presentation and interactive session we handed over to one of our graduates, Abdallah Dobashi, who presented his latest venture, and invited our guests to visit for a nice reception afterwards with great discussions, good food and drinks as well as lots of opportunities to make connections and learn.

Our Speaker Series provide invaluable insights for our students into diverse industries, and also allow them to meet companies and relevant organizations, while engaging in lifelong learning activities. After all, we don´t just want to provide unique US degrees but a solid education. By maintaining such Ecosystem platform we assist our students in applying their knowledge in real settings and also meet relevant industry representatives to learn from, and connect with, early on in their studies and not after graduation.
