PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Specific program outcomes are listed below. The Bachelor of Science in Special Education (K-12) program graduates will have:
- Develop specialized pedagogical knowledge to understand the unique needs and characteristics of students with diverse learning needs.
- Prepare students to meet state requirements and earn an Arkansas teaching license in Special Education (K-12).
- Learn and apply research-supported strategies in instructional planning, intervention, and classroom management for students with disabilities.
- Equip graduates with approaches to deliver culturally appropriate learning opportunities that respect and reflect student diversity.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- An ability to develop and implement learning experiences tailored to a range of special education learners.
- An ability to use research-supported methods when planning and delivering instruction to promote student learning outcomes.
- An ability to integrate culturally responsive practices into educational planning and classroom instruction.
- An ability to understand how different disabilities and learning needs impact student performance and instruction.
- An ability to work effectively with families, educators, and related professionals to support students and their educational plans.
