On the 1st of October 2026, we welcomed roughly a hundred (100) guests as part of our 2nd Speaker Series in the Fall semester. Qatar Insurance Company (QIC) provided unique insights into the insurance sector and our students presented the results of three (3) separate consumer behaviour projects in which ten (10) Arkansas State University Qatar students were involved.
On the 17th of September we had the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology’s Digital Incubation Center (MCIT-DIC) with us dedicating the evening to entrepreneurship and starting your own company.
Our Speakers Series are meant to bring the Qatari Ecosystem together and connect our students with our alumni, corporate and school partners, and other relevant stakeholders providing a unique lifelong learning and networking platform for the community. As stated before our focus is on providing our students domain knowledge in diverse industries and a solid education, not just a university degree. This is also reflected in our cooperation with the Cisco Networking Academy allowing our students to take over 70 courses for free and get co-branded Cisco and A-State certificates preparing them also for what the industry requires.
The insurance industry started over 3,000 years ago with ancient risk-sharing methods for trade before evolving into modern contracts and companies in 17th-century Europe. Without risk-mitigation tools, modern globalization would not be possible. Founded in 1964, QIC was the first domestic insurance company in Qatar. It is also listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange since 1997. QIC is the largest insurance group in the Middle East & North Africa region in terms of total asset and total equity.
We were very proud to hand our students together with QIC their certificates of accomplishment. They learnt a lot during the 8-10 week project period giving them a great understanding of the insurance sector. On the 15th of October we continue with our 3rd Speaker Series, and the Executive Director of Digital & AI of Qatar Investment Authority providing a great platform for all our stakeholders.
